An environmentally-friendly illuminated round magnifier which preserves energy, thanks to its clever autotouch feature. The moment you grip the handle, the light comes on; as you let go again, it switches itself off. This makes it a helpful magnifying glass for those who struggle with conventional switches because of poor hand articulation, or anyone who may forget to turn off the light. That's why this magnifier is frequently recommended for elderly or less able-bodied people, as well as for anyone just looking for a high quality low vision aid.
As you would expect from COIL, world leaders in magnifying optics since 1936, the lens is also of the highest quality. In this case it's a round aspheric lens measuring 60mm. This gives the user a view just over a couple of inches in diameter, and a magnification strength of 5x (five times original size). A powerful, long-lasting LED shines crisp white light across the subject.
Lightweight to hold, with a central blue rubberised strip, the ATMax comes with soft cloth pouch , and requires 2 x AA batteries (not supplied) for operation. The bottom of the handle contains a helpful raised emboss diagram showing the direction in which the batteries need to be inserted.
